Ambar Fuentes, Luis Zambrano and Roberto Ibáñez voted for Danilo Carrera in his candidacy to preside over the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee.
January 19, 2022 – 4:54 p.m.
The presidents of the Ecuadorian federations of skating, Weightlifting Y judo request to Jorge Delgado Panchana, president of Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE), which protects them according to the Olympic Charter before the request that they cancel the electricity and drinking water services that they use in the coliseums that they have on loan.
Delgado in a letter addressed to Amber Fountains, Of skating; Luis Zambrano, weightlifting; Y Roberto Ibanez, of judo, tells them that, in order to regulate bailment contracts between the COE and several Ecuadorian sports federations for the use of the coliseum that is on loan, the payment of the consumption of electricity and drinking water for their own sports activities is complied with and that these are billed by the companies that provide these services on behalf of each national federation.
In the final part of the official letter, it gives them a period of five working days to confirm the response on the actions they will carry out to comply with what is indicated.
Leaders’ response
Fuentes, Zambrano and Ibáñez responded to Delgado: “With great surprise and concern We have received your communication requesting actions to be taken to comply with the alleged obligation established in the respective loan contracts, to pay for the consumption of drinking water and electricity in the coliseums that the federations we represent hold for the exercise of high-level sports activities. performance that we meet in accordance with the Sports Law and the Olympic Charter, and that rise on the premises of the Sports Federation of Guayas”.
In the second part they limit: “Strangeness because you allege an obligation that contractually does not exist, which you can verify by simply reading the respective documents; and concern, because being the COE the entity that shelters us and must protect us according to the Olympic Charter and that you receive from the State the resources for the payment of the services that you now intend to transfer to the entities that we represent and now you want to charge us for that item to the detriment of the sports activity that we must carry out by 2022″.
The three leaders, who coincidentally supported the candidacy of Danilo Carrera in the last COE elections, point out their surprise at the request, “because other federations that also occupy offices within the property that the COE uses in loan granted by Fedeguayas, they are not required to do what is required of us now, such as the Ecuadorian Swimming Federation, which, in possession of two offices in the building next to the COE, consumes electricity through air conditioning, computers, lamps and other installations that the COE pays for without problem, as it should be.
In the penultimate paragraph, it is noted that “the strangeness continues when the entity that joins us prefers to maintain the administrative expense in salaries of the president, general secretary and treasurer harming the high-performance sports activity that we carry out successfully, according to the results of the last Olympic cycle.”
In the last part, they mention that the COE is aware of the technical difficulties that coliseums present to connect to the energy supply; and confirm that they will make arrangements with the electricity service provider to establish the technical feasibility of installing meters in the coliseums and the drinking water service was already being canceled long time.
