Wednesday’s day in Liga BetPlay 2022-I began with the agonizing comeback of Once Caldas at La Equidad. Duel that had several participations of the VAR and rude defensive errors in the insurance team.
In the first one, an insurance team was seen completely dedicated to the attack. Two clear opportunities were opportunely stopped by goalkeeper Eder Chaux, who arrived at Blanco Blanco after a brief spell with Junior.
The emotions came about the closing of the first part and they were for each side. At 45′, Malon Piedrahita raised a cross from the right flank and Diego Valdés, former insurer, scored with a popcorn. The line judge invalidated everything for being out of place and from the VAR they reaffirmed their decision.
And a minute later, Chaux brilliantly took out a header from Pablo Sabbag, but the striker immediately grabbed the rebound, eluded an opponent and finished second. Although the line appeared again to ruin the party due to an alleged misplacement, the goal was validated from the VAR.
The second 45 minutes kept the same dynamic: few options at the beginning and pure intensity towards the end.
When it was not clear where Once Caldas could enter rival territory, an error between Nicolás Palacios and Washington Ortega ruined the capital’s plan (78′). After a header back, Palacios went to close Mender García and Ortega wanted to shrink. None made the decision to go and the ball ended up passing between the legs of the Uruguayan goalkeeper. With an empty door, Ménder scored the tie.
And if the above was not enough, four minutes later the visiting team came back. After a cross from the left, Palacios, once again the protagonist, raised his hand and the ball hit him. Clear penalty. Valdés took charge of the charge, kicked to the center, Ortega saved, but on the rebound the ex-Santa Fe did not forgive.
