Euroleague: BLMA sees quarters with victory over Riga

The result brings BLMA closer to the quarter-finals. Very paradoxical.

Match sheet

  • TTT RIGA: 18/55 including 3/15 at 3 pts, 6 LF/7, 8 assists, 37 rebounds (Sarauskaite 11), 29 stray bullets, 15 fouls – Thomas (13), Basko (3), Pulvere (5), Handy (7), Sarauskaite (6) then Jasa (5), Gilday (4), Klakocka (2), Meldere, Tomasicka, Korzane, Pavelsone, ent. : Martins Gulbis.

History will therefore remember that the series of four consecutive defeats of the BLMA ended on the floor of the Latvian champions, TTT Riga.

And if the locals spent 1’57 in the lead (5-0), they were then totally dominated by the Gazelles who offered a fine performance. “We have developed the basketball that I want with aggressiveness and fast play. Lately and in Charleville in particular, there have already been beginnings. The team is in place”, satisfied Valéry Demory hot.

Domination outrageuse

The latter hardly sweated throughout a meeting that his proteges outrageously dominated against a rival who had nevertheless won in Moscow and Venice!

Serious in defense with a Riga reduced to a very pitiful 32.73% of address, projecting very well in the offensive phase (14 pts on counter-attacks, 30 on stolen balls), effective in the racket (38 pts), the BLMA was also able to rely on a quartet of Peters – married – Wallace – Filip (65 cumulative pts), relayed by an altruistic Berniès (10 assists). Only seven “pros” in Riga with Dabovic injured, BLMA still have a quarter-final success. Crazy.

In the classification of a group A which will not escape Ekaterinburg and with the duo USK Prague – Avenida Salamanca for 2nd and 3rd place, the BLMA shares 4th place with the TTT Riga (17 pts, one more match) but a favorable goal average (+44). But with the two matches postponed to this 12th day (Covid), there are now three late.
