Ousmane Coulibaly collapses on the pitch and suffers a heart attack. Before the doctors get to the defense attorney, James Rodriguez provides first aid. A doctor is now emphasizing the special role of the former Bayern professional.
THEUsmane Coulibaly collapsed on the goal line and slumped onto the grass. His teammates and opponents immediately noticed that something bad had happened. The defender suffered a heart attack in the game between his club Al-Wakrah and Al-Rayyan in Qatar last Saturday. It was a matter of seconds. Doctors and paramedics rushed to the grass to help the Mali national player.
A few days after the accident, it turns out that Coulibaly only survived thanks to the courageous intervention of an opponent. Before the doctors got to Coulibaly, James Rodriguez provided first aid. The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player reacted quickly and stabilized Coulibaly’s head so that the 32-year-old could keep breathing.
Al-Wakrah’s team doctor Mukhtar Shabaan confirmed the importance of Rodriguez’s intervention. According to the doctor, Coulibaly could have died without the Colombian’s quick help. This is reported by the Al-Rayyan club on Instagram.
Coulibaly was transported to a hospital shortly after the heart attack and is on the mend. After the shock moment, Coulibaly’s wife spoke up that night via Instagram: “Thank you for your supportive and loving messages. Ousmane is in stable condition as a result of his heart attack. He is slowly but surely coming to. He is in very good hands. “
Rodriguez moved to Qatar from the Premier League
Coulibaly played for Mali for many years, but was not nominated for the Africa Cup in Cameroon. At club level, he was mainly active in France and Greece. In 2019 the central defender moved to Qatar, and this season Coulibaly played all games for Al-Wakrah over the full distance.
His savior James Rodriguez has been playing for Al-Rayyan since last September. In seven games he scored three goals for the club and also gave four assists. Rodriguez moved from Real Madrid to Bayern in 2017, but could never really assert himself in Munich. In 2020 he went to Everton in England, but the midfielder was also unable to build on his old heyday in the Premier League.
