Excellent results for senior badminton players from Soria in the…

With the presence of nine Sorians, both from the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club and the AD89 from El Burgo de Osma, these players achieved a large number of medals unleashing two absolute triumphs.

Esther Pereira from Burgos became one of the most outstanding players in the competition with two medals in the two doubles modalities. A specialist in this modality, Esther won gold in the women’s double with Jennifer Fernández from Palencia and in mixed double with the player from Valladolid, Jorge Velázquez.

The second victory came from the Soria couple made up of Manuel Acero and Santiago Martínez. The Sorianos prevailed in the B2 category, defeating the locals Enrique Balsategui and José Vergara in the final. This fantastic result will place the Sorianos in the first position of the national ranking. Santiago Martínez, in the men’s singles category, would reach the semifinals of the same category.

Double medal also for Víctor Ortega in A1, hanging the silver medal in both the men’s singles and doubles. On his return to a senior category master’s degree, Víctor was close to winning gold, mainly in the men’s doubles with José Miranda from Jaén.

David Hernansanz would have a similar performance, with the silver medal obtained in the individual and the bronze medal in the men’s double, both in the A2 category. In one of the most spectacular matches of the competition, they gave up the victory in singles by a result of 21-18 in the third set, whose result does justice to the intensity of the match.

Both bronze medals were obtained by José Carlos Pérez, from the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club in the C1 category, both in the individual and in the men’s double, together with the player from the Gijón Badminton Club, Guillermo Ménendez, the Soriano stayed at the gates of the final in both modalities.

The last medal was won by Alfonso Caamaño from Burgos in men’s double B1. In what is his first national medal, Alfonso collected the result of several years of training and competition.

On the other hand, the youngest members of the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club disputed another National Master in this case for sub13 and sub17 categories in the Extremaduran town of Villanueva de la Vera.

The five Soria present, accused the few weeks of training and the great burden of the same not developing their best version.

Javier Barrios was able to overcome the group phase until falling in the quarterfinal round of the sub17 category. A similar trajectory would be followed by his teammate, Daniel Marín, who in the sub-13 category, was left at the gates of access to the semifinals.
