Extra league chess. Liberec, Vítkovice and Kometa outside, the opponents are hastily looking for an alternative solution

The duel between Liberec and Český Budějovice will take place on Sunday, January 30. In addition, Sunday’s match between the White Tigers and Vítkovice will also be postponed due to quarantine measures at the Ostrava residents. Both clubs are negotiating a new date.

The Vítkovice team confirmed the suspicion of a covid-19 infection, and based on the results of PCR tests, the entire team is quarantined from the decision of the regional hygiene station. The people of Ostrava will not play on the ice of Hradec Králové on Friday.

The comet then postpones the next three matches – in Kladno, with Olomouc and in Pardubice. The next match should be played by Brno on Friday, January 28 at home against Karlovy Vary. Alternative dates for postponed matches have yet to be decided.

Friday’s extra league program has three matches planned so far. In addition to the prelude to Kladno with České Budějovice, there will also be a prelude to the 57th round between Třinec and Olomouc. Of Friday’s 44th round, only the West Bohemian derby between Karlovy Vary and Pilsen remains in force.

Five of the fifteen extra-league units – Sparta, Pardubice, Brno, Vítkovice and Litvínov – are currently in quarantine.

Even before the start of the year, the management of the extra league adjusted the rules for cases where the covid-19 disease would interfere with the program and the match had to be postponed. The match can be postponed for a maximum of 30 days. In the event that this fails, new competition dates may be set by the competition director Josef Řezníček or the Hockey Association’s sports and technical committee.

Teams wishing to advance to the playoffs must play at least 50 percent of the match. In the event that one of the teams does not play the full number of matches, the number of points according to the average profit will be added to the table. All clubs have already played at least half of the basic part, including 60 rounds.

Extra-league director Josef Řezníček told Sport.cz that the clubs do not want to shorten the basic part yet, so two other options are being considered – to extend the season until the first week of May, or to narrow the pre-round play off to two winning matches and quarterfinals to three winning cats . Or combine both.
