It’s all over!
The possible lightning change from Schalke star Malick Thiaw (20) to AC Milan has (for now) burst.
According to BILD information, S04 sports director Rouven Schröder (46) rejected the Italians’ offer of a total of 6.5 million euros (including success bonuses). Only with a package of around 10 million euros would royal blue have become weak.
Now Schröder has decided to keep the U21 national defender (contract until 2024) and not to jeopardize the mission of promotion through a Thiaw transfer.
The centre-back was set to replace defender and captain Simon Kjaer (32) at Milan, currently third in Serie A. The Dane tore his cruciate ligament before the winter break and the club has only had three central defenders since then.
If the Italians offer more money, Schalke could perhaps go into the next round of negotiations.
