Juan Pablo Ficovich, No. 236 in the world ranking, who turns 25 this Monday, will seek to play the main draw of the Córdoba Open for the second time, thanks to the fact that he received a special invitation from the organization of that ATP 250.
A native of Berazategui, Ficovich has a good mime after a hard 2021 that He included a title in Challenger after spending seven months without professional activity due to myocarditis after contracting coronavirus.
Before, he stood out in his debut at the Córdoba Open in 2020. The victories over the Portuguese Pedro Sousa (he would be a finalist at the Argentina Open the following week) and the Slovakian Filip Horansky in the classification allowed him to debut in an ATP main draw.
The Italian Gianluca Mager was his rival in the first round and, despite playing a great match, he fell in three sets in the match that, so far, marks his only participation in a main draw on the ATP major circuit.
That year would be special in the career of the native of Buenos Aires since, at the end of August, he achieved his best position in the ranking by reaching the 196th position in the international classification.

Ficovich, who was champion of the San Pablo Challenger in 2021, joins Sebastián Báez (95th) as the Argentines confirmed to play the qualifying table. The Córdoba Open will be held from January 29 to February 6 at the Mario Alberto Kempes venue and will have full public capacity.
