On Friday in the selection or long program, Vasiljevs won the third place in the competition of 24 participants.
He received a total of 181.84 points, which allowed him to improve his personal record by 16.23 points. Daugavpils received 93.12 points for technical elements and 88.72 points for program components.
The first place in the selection program was won by the Russian figure skater Mark Kondratyuk, who collected 187.5 points, while the second place was taken by the Italian Daniel Grasl.
In the overall rating, the Latvian figure skater took the third place with a total of 272.08 points, improving his previous best result by 17.6 points.
Kondratjuk won the first place in the European Championship with 286.56 points, but Grasls won the silver medal with 274.48 points.
It has already been reported that on Wednesday, Vasilyev ranked sixth in the short program. The judges rated Vasilyev’s performance with 90.24 points, which improved his personal record by 0.48 points. He received 46.74 points for the technical elements and 43.50 points for the components of the program.
Vasilyev will be the only figure skater in Latvia at the 2022 Beijing Olympics in February.
