Fiorentina chief executive Joe Barone has confirmed Dusan Vlahovic is set to be sold in January but denies any deal with Arsenal.
If Fiorentina have their way, top scorer Dusan Vlahovic will be sold in the current winter transfer window. Sports director Joe Barone confirmed the daily newspaper The nationthat the lilies want to let the 21-year-old go in January.
According to the report, Arsenal want to sign the Serbian striker this month, but Vlahovic is reportedly not planning to leave Stadio Artemio Franchi before June. The Fiorentina top performer should also refuse to extend his contract, his current contract expires in 2023.
“English clubs have made contact”
Barone continued in the paper: “Some English clubs have been in contact but there is no agreement yet.” But he made it clear: “We are open to a sale.” There had already been reports that Arsenal and Fiorentina had reached an agreement to transfer the striker, but Barone denied this in his interview with the newspaper.
The chief executive had called for clarity on Vlahovic’s appointment last week, asking the striker to either sign a contract extension or leave. “I haven’t heard from them, I had asked Vlahovic’s agent to be clear, but I haven’t heard anything, no contact at all,” Barone added.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport Juventus has already offered €35m plus Dejan Kulusevski to sign Vlahovic in January. “La Viola”, on the other hand, demands 75 to 80 million euros for Vlahovic, the striker has demanded an annual salary of eight million euros.
