In front of only 750 spectators due to the corona virus, Thomas Meunier (14th/29th), ex-Salzburg striker Erling Haaland (45th, 75th) and Mahmoud Dahoud (86th) sealed Freiburg’s third away defeat.
Breisgau’s increase came too late and was only rewarded with a goal from Ermedin Demirovic (61st) to make it 3-1. The fourth-placed team of coach Christian Streich is threatened with falling out of the Champions League ranks this weekend, they still have 13 points less than Bayern.
Disappointment at Freiburg
“That was far too little, that was a bad game from us. It’s extremely disappointing that we perform like this on Friday evening,” said Streich, emphasizing: “If we’re not in a really good mood, then of course we have nothing to do with Borussia Dortmund. You saw that today.”
The mood on the other side was naturally better: “We did a lot of things right and well today. The first half was strong as a bear. That was great,” said BvB trainer Marco Rose, visibly satisfied.
