Forty women from Vícar already have their black belt against violence

About Forty women from the municipality have participated in the two editions of the Self Defense Course for Women organized by the Vícar City Council, through its Municipal Information Center for Women (CMI). An activity that has aroused the interest of numerous women who, in fact, have completed the places provided for in the two editions of the course.

The Mayor of Vícar, Antonio Bonilla, has very positively valued the response to this new initiative of the Municipal Information Center for Women, developed from last November to this week, and has highlighted the importance of this type of course, pointing out that “with them we fulfilled the double objective of making techniques and skills available to our women to guarantee their protection and safety, and , on the other hand, reinforce their self-esteem and self-confidence, through learning and knowledge of basic self-defense techniques”.



Both courses were part of the activities scheduled by the Women’s Center to commemorate 25-N (International Day against Violence against Women) have been completely free and took place in two weekly sessions for four weeks, in the facilities of the Sports Palace of Vícar. The classes have been taught by monitors from the Koudougakusya Judo Academy, under the direction of the award-winning judoka from Almería, David García del Valle..

Throughout the eight sessions held in each of the two courses, the participating women have been able to learn in an entertaining way, and sometimes in a fun way, various Useful techniques and strategies to reduce, immobilize or escape from a possible attack and resolve any aggression in the best possible way.

The success of this initiative has been such that the Department of Women studies repeating the activity in the future and integrating it into its programming habitual both for the activities of the International Day against Violence against Women, and for the Day of the Working Woman, since this type of courses are of great help for women, because it allows them to develop greater confidence in themselves and in their own capacities, as well as to implement strategies for the prevention and detection of dangerous situations. We must not forget that in these cases it is of great importance that women have been able to integrate personal safety habits into their daily lives, promoting the self-confidence and self-esteem necessary to overcome any risk situation that may arise.
