Frank Hvam is the greatest advocate for the spread of sporten badminton in Denmark in a new format on DR.

We probably all best associate Frank Hvam from the hit series ‘The Clown’, who also made his debut on the big screen with two cinema films. But Frank Hvam is not just a ‘Clown’. Going forward, Frank Hvam is also badminton.

Frank Hvam will be hosting a brand new program series on DR which takes a closer look at Denmark’s badminton history. That tells DR in a press release. It’s not a completely random choice of host, because the 51-year-old comedian has a very special enthusiasm for the sport.

“When I say on the standup stage today that I have been playing badminton for 11 years, people laugh a little. Badminton is almost a joke in itself, ”says Frank in the press text.

“Nobody laughs when I say I’ve been playing tennis for seven years. What has happened to my beloved sport? I have now set out to find out how to get the bling bling value in badminton a few nicks upwards, so that the sport does not keep getting behind the wheel of tennis and football, “he continues.

Frank Hvam would like to strike a blow for badminton to be more widely recognized in Denmark.

“I simply have such a hard time understanding why badminton is no longer quite as cool as in my childhood, when Denmark still delivers some of the best players in the world,”

The program runs over three episodes in which the DNA of the racket sport is dived into. Along the way, there will be professional input from the branch’s masters Viktor Axelsen, Anders Antonsen, Camilla Martin and Peter Gade.

It is spiced with comedy from Frank’s friends such as Jan Gintberg, Jonatan Spang and Simon Kvamm. The series is called “Frank Hvam: Make Badminton Great Again” and premieres February 3 at 21.00 on DR2 and DRTV.
