FC Augsburg‘s squad planners don’t have to travel too far these days. As reported by the ‘kicker’, the Fuggerstadt have targeted Maximilian Bauer from SpVgg Greuther Fürth. In Augsburg they plan to sign the 21-year-old free of charge in the summer and equip him with a five-year contract.
According to the information from the ‘kicker’, the club and the player are already in final negotiations, so the change could be announced in a timely manner. In Augsburg, Bauer would then help to stabilize the defensive line, which is currently more than vulnerable with 35 goals conceded in 20 Bundesliga games.
The homegrown talent, who has been with the club since 2014, has made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga this season. Bauer recently lost his regular place to Sebastian Griesbeck (31). The four-time German U21 national player has played 66 professional games for the Fürth team so far.
