Freestyle skiing: the frightening fall of American Cody LaPlante who lost his two skis during a jump

The image is striking. While competing in the French stage of the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in Font-Romeu (Pyrénées-Orientales), the young American Cody LaPlante (19) lost his two skis when attacking a trick. As he took off for his first jump, a backflip, the young man doubled his shoes without expecting it.

Fortunately, the main interested party emerged unscathed from his accident, even managing to get up and then walk normally as if nothing had happened. “It may have been a bad adjustment or a bit of snow that remained between the binding and the boot, but it was dangerous. The chance he has is to continue his figure until the end, ”tried to explain George-Alain Jones, consultant for The L’Équipe channel. The outcome could have been much more dramatic, given the hardness of the snow in the reception areas.

Originally from Lake Tahoe (California), the young Cody LaPlante is one of the gifted in the discipline since he has already won several national titles in freestyle skiing.
