Created in 1961 in the town of Monestiés (Tarn), the Union Sportive Carmaux Voile was designated a “Coup de Coeur” club by the Ligue de Voile Occitanie as part of the Top Clubs, whose ceremony organized by the FFVoile took place on December 11 at the Nautic in Paris. Discovery of the club with its president, Thierry Alvernhe.

Can you introduce us to your club?

The US Carmaux Voile teaches sailing in all its forms from January 15 to December 15 on the 64-hectare drinking water reserve of Roucarié. It is the only nautical center in the north of the Tarn. We have 139 licensees for the year, including around forty sailing passports. The teaching is provided by an instructor holding the State sailing certificate in CDI who has been trained, helped by the club’s volunteers. Other nautical and leisure activities are also offered.

You have been designated “Coup de Coeur” of the year 2021 by your League on the occasion of the Top Clubs. What does this represent for you?

We had already been awarded by the FFVoile last year because our numbers had increased by 30% between 2019 and 2020. This is great recognition for the club and our actions. We are dynamic and we try to develop as much as possible with our means and our constraints, without having the advantages of the seaside. inland.

How is the 2022 season looking?

We have been competing for a long time, but in recent years, the trend has been more towards recreational practice. It is difficult to promote the return to the regatta. We renewed our fleet of windsurf boards in 2019 and received two RS Feva last year. We have just obtained two other RS Feva, two Dart 16 and two wingfoils within the framework of the Plan Littoral 21. These new supports will make it possible to develop the school of Sport and to bring young people towards competition. Our notebook is already full for May and June with the schoolchildren. But the objective is to increase our operating time by diversifying by offering winter land activities such as archery, or perhaps climbing, hiking and orienteering. Our BE has been following training in this direction since last September to pass the BPJEPS physical activities for all, which will end in June and therefore, it will be supported by another BPJEPS physical activities for all from May.
