Galatasaray Women’s Basketball Team faced Botaş in the 14th week of the Herbalife Nutrition Women’s Basketball Super League. Botaş won the match played at Martyr Mustafa Private Sports Complex with a score of 75-65.
We started with Pelin Bilgiç, Sude Yılmaz, Melis Gülcan, Kaela Davis and Tina Krajisnik, three of our players scored in double digits. Pelin Bilgiç became our top scorer with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Melis Gülcan 16 points, 7 rebounds; Tina Krajisnik finished the game with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
The first period, which started on balance, was passed with a 23-19 lead by Botaş with Ayşe Cora’s last second basket. Our team, which could not put forward the performance it wanted on the offensive field in the second quarter and fell behind by a double-digit margin, reacted well with Davis and Pelin towards the end of the period, drawing the lead to single digits. The first half ended with a 38-30 lead by Botaş. Melis Gülcan came forward with 9 points, Pelin Bilgiç 8 points and Kaela Davis 6 points in the first half.
While our Galatasaray drew the difference up to 5 in the third quarter, the double-digit superiority of Botaş was seen again at the end of the period. We went into the last quarter with a 12-point handicap: 50-62.
Even though we reduced the difference, which was 13 at the start of the last quarter, to 7 in the second half of the period, Botaş, who retained its score advantage, won the match 75-65.
After this match, our team will prepare for Spar Girona in EuroLeague Women’s Group B.
