The Ibón children’s team, led by their coach Raúl Poblador, traveled to the Catalan town of Tortosa to participate in the first Spanish Cup of the year. These competitions are important, since with them, the competitors acquire the experience that will be essential for them to qualify for the Spanish championship that will take place at the end of April.
For almost all the components of the Ibón team, both female and male, it was their first important competition, since they were making their debut in the children’s category and in the two previous seasons, due to the pandemic, no junior competitions had been held at the federative level. in Aragon, so the transition to children is expected to be hard.
On the part of Ibón, in the women’s category Irene Miranda participated, who fell in the first round and also failed to win the repechage match, and Silvia Vives, who faced and lost the first match, against whom she would later be gold, moving on to the repechage that he won, getting into the dispute for the bronze that he finally lost, having to settle for fifth place.
Almost all of the boys suffered the same fate as Irene in this first competition. Víctor Laguarta, Edehy García, Ramón Cabrero, Saúl Serena, Jorge Torres and Omar Lemos lost some of them with play-offs in the first matches, but with no luck.
Only three judokas passed rounds, Martín Polo won his fights until the pass to the final, here he was against Aitor Rivero from Zaragoza in a very close fight with which he later won gold, Martín for his part disputed the third place that he won with solvency, a very creditable bronze in his first competition tastes like gold.
The same thing happened to Jeremy Jordán and Mario Jubero as to Martín, they won their fights until reaching the final they asked for, going on to dispute the bronze medals. Jeremy won, but Mario lost against a French competitor, having to settle for Silvia with a fifth place. Two bronzes and two fifths for this young team.

For their part, the CJ Binéfar athletes, under the direction of their coach Antonio Clager and coach Raul Clemente, showing signs of a great technical level and preparation that predict a great season, in which the first results of the year have begun to arrive from the hand of Sira Diallo and Sara Rico who got two bronzes in the -57 kg and -63 kg category respectively and Daniela Teres who won fifth place in the -44 kg category. Martina Aurin also participated in -52 kg, Sofia Caferatta in -57 kg and Hector Cardil in -66 kg, who although they did not manage to get on the podium on this first occasion, they performed a magnificent competition.
Also on Sunday, the juniors Alba Cajal in -70 kg and Alejandro Mairal in -60 kg began the competition this year and although they did not get a medal this time they showed great preparation in all their fights.
