Greg Van Avermaet told his story about the corona vaccination a while ago. That story has even gone international.
Van Avermaet experienced a lot of trouble with his corona vaccine last year. As a result, he no longer reached the level he used to be. That is why the rider decided to have his booster shot after the classics in order to no longer have that problem.
That story has taken on a life of its own internationally. The Spanish online newspaper El Espanol has 500,000 followers on social media. They called Van Avermaet the “Novak Djokovic of cycling.”
Van Avermaet contracted the corona virus in November and therefore decided to postpone. “If I hadn’t fallen ill, I would have had that syringe put in a long time ago. I am therefore in favor of vaccination. I don’t want anyone to think I’m some kind of Novak Djokovic,” he told GVA.
