The women’s handball Bundesliga does not rest. Again, cameras were spotted in the locker rooms. The TuS Metzingen team is affected this time. Just last week, a similarly scandalous case became public.
EOnce again the women’s national handball league is shaken by a tension scandal. After the handball lynxes Buchholz 08-Rosengarten and the SG BBM Bietigheim team, the TuS Metzingen team is affected this time. The players discovered two hidden cameras in their dressing room earlier in the week. After the club had informed the police, a person close to the team was identified who is now under strong suspicion. The Metzinger announced this on Thursday. The cooperation with this person was immediately terminated.
“This disgusting act – also by a direct person of trust – is just shocking and has affected us all very much,” said manager Ferenc Rott. He was “impressed” by the solidarity of the players and their joint decision to play the game against SG BBM Bietigheim. TuS lost this on Wednesday at 20:32 (13:20).
“We won’t let something like that get us down – and the fact that the team wants to play handball again immediately is a very strong signal,” Rott continued. “During this difficult time, we received a lot of support from the police, the association and other teams. That helps, of course, and we thank you for that.”
The Handball Bundesliga Women (HBF) reacted “shocked” and assured TuS “full support”. “We condemn this reprehensible act in the strongest terms,” it said in a statement on Thursday. “Such a criminal act contradicts all the values that we represent as HBF together with our clubs.”
Cameras behind dummy light switches in Buchholz
Only last week it became known that the police in Lower Saxony suspected a 55-year-old from Buchholz because of filming in the showers of the home and guest teams in the Buchholz Nordheidehalle.
The man, who comes from the wider area of the Buchholz 08-Rosengarten club, is said to have installed three cameras in the showers during a game in September. Evidence in the man’s apartment was secured and is still being evaluated. The incident had already occurred in mid-September last year, but had only now been made public by the investigators. The cameras were hidden behind dummy light switches. The act was also discovered during a game against SG BBM Bietigheim from Baden-Württemberg.
