— Continuing from the first part, I would like to ask about my brother Shingo Kawabata. Shingo has successfully recovered from repeated failures and surgery for herniated disc. Do you feel any change between before and after surgery?
Yuki Kawabata (hereinafter referred to as Kawabata) I think my brother’s practice amount is increasing, although he may be affected by the surgery on his lower back and he is getting older. I think that I consult with my physical condition about the intensity of practice, but I think that the frequency and amount of practice is higher than when I was young. Actually, I don’t think my waist is perfect yet, but I think that the quality of the practice has improved because he says, “I feel better than before the surgery.”
–It’s amazing that you don’t feel “returned” but “feel better” than before.
Kawabata: I don’t know if it’s the age-related approach that consciously increases the amount of practice than before, or if there is another reason, but I would like to emulate that figure as well.
–Last year, I played an active part as a “pinch hitter trump card”. What is the “difficulty of pinch hitter”?
Kawabata: I don’t have much experience, but I also felt that it was extremely difficult when I was appointed as a pinch hitter. If you don’t enter the game properly when you are on the bench, you can’t swing from the first ball. My brother was originally a type who thinks deeply about baseball, so even if he doesn’t play baseball, I think he can watch the game as if he were playing baseball. In that sense, I think I’m good at putting in feelings.
