The investigators suspect that the now 67-year-old Van Holsbeeck received retro commissions from broker Christophe Henrotay on various outgoing transfers from RSC Anderlecht. The transfers of Chancel Mbemba, Aleksander Mitrovic (both to Newcastle) and Youri Tielemans (to Monaco) have come into view. The last transfer involved a brokerage fee of more than 6 million euros.
The investigation is separate from Operation Clean Hands. Christophe Henrotay (ex-agent also of Thibaut Courtois) was discredited via the Football Leaks scandal. Anderlecht has already filed civil proceedings in 2019 in the Henrotay case. If it turns out that the club has suffered financial damage, Anderlecht wants to recover as much as possible through legal action against Henrotay and Van Holsbeeck.
