The Jazz (30-17) and Suns (36-9) haven’t played this season, but they are two of the teams that have the opportunity to race in the Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals this season. Utah have fought their last 12 games going 4-8 in total. The Jazz have lost games to good teams, but mostly have lost to mediocre or struggling teams in this stretch.

The Jazz lost 94-92 in their last outing to Golden State in what proved to be a tough defensive match against team no. 2 of the Western Conference. The Jazz now take on the number 1 team tonight.
When fully healthy, this could easily be a preview of the Western Conference Finals, and for about two months this is what these two teams looked like. Then 2022 hit Utah like a ton of bricks.
Since January 1st, the Jazz have gone 4-8, losing to Indiana, Detroit, Houston and Los Angeles Lakers.
All-Star Donovan Mitchell missed four of those games (1-3), but was also present for some of the losses. Rudy Gobert, a three-time defender of the year, has also missed a few games, with the team going 1-4 in his absence.
These teams played three times last season with Phoenix winning all three games, one in extra time and the others one way.
This season, Phoenix looks even more surgical than last year with the No. 3 overall at 112.5 points per game and defense no. 6 to 104.5 points allowed.
The Suns have been 9-1 since January 1 with a current record of six straight wins, beating the teams by +12.2 points per game. Whether Utah comes sloppy, understaffed, or not at its best, it will run straight out of the gym tonight.
