HSV leaves points at Dynamo

Dhe Hamburger SV started the new second division year with a meager 1-1 (1-0) win at Dynamo Dresden. Coach Tim Walter’s team initially defended third place in the tight race for promotion, but could be overtaken by up to five teams over the course of the weekend.

Robert Glatzel gave HSV the lead shortly before the break (37th minute) with his tenth goal of the season. The striker scored in the third HSV game in a row. Christoph Daferner (61st) equalized in the second half. The two teams had already drawn 1-1 in the first leg.

Dynamo got off to a better start in front of 1000 admitted fans. “Those who are there today must set the mood for 10,000,” said Dresden’s sports manager Ralf Becker before kick-off on Sky. The hosts started with the appropriate motivation, but remained too harmless in the end. The HSV waited patiently and hit the first good chance ice cold. After a counterattack, Glatzel happily got the ball and hit it with a lob. After the break, he missed the chance to score a second goal (49′) before Dynamo was rewarded for his efforts. Daferner was spot on with a cross at the far post and headed in.

Hannover keeps the zero and gets three points

Hannover 96 managed to break free in the relegation battle at the start of the new year. Coach Christoph Dabrowski’s team won 1-0 (0-0) against their direct competitor Hansa Rostock. With 23 points, the Lower Saxony advanced to twelfth place, the lead over the relegation place is six points.
