In National there is self-criticism before facing Junior

The Nacional coach acknowledged that the team left gaps in its debut, which they hope to correct for Wednesday’s duel against the Barranquilleros.

The 1-1 draw in Atlético Nacional‘s debut in the league against Cortuluá caused the purslane coach Alejandro Restrepo and the squad to reflect.

“Being self-critical and reflective of what the game was like, undoubtedly in the first half, as a team we identified where we were superior and in which sector to hurt the rival, we scored a goal through a good game circuit and breaking unchecks. We had several scoring options, but in the second half we weren’t so sharp and we missed a lot of passes”.

On the reasons for the drop in performance that the team showed in the second half, he explained that they were of a soccer nature and not physical. “These flaws in the game gave the rival confidence, who felt comfortable in that aspect and that is why the second half happened, I do not feel it as a physical issue because the team has prepared very well in that aspect and we did the corresponding changes when we saw that our players had made significant wear”.

Restrepo indicated that for the duel against Junior, this Wednesday at 8:15 pm at the Atanasio, the failures against Cortuluá should not be taken as a negative point, but rather, on the contrary, assumed and corrected.

“It’s an opportunity to improve, touch each other and obviously we were annoyed by the draw in the debut, because we felt that we could have brought us the victory”.

The purslane strategist said that on each date, of the 19 that lie ahead, it is necessary to show evolution.

“This Wednesday we have a great opportunity in that intention, with our people and against a rival as important as Junior”.

Candelo spoke for the group

Regarding the mistakes that were made in defense and that led to the penalty, Yerson Candelo clarified that the responsibility fell on everyone and not just on the defenders.

“It’s unfair to only point to the back line, because if they ask me about their qualification I would give them a high. Unfortunately we were not consistent with the game in the second half. It’s time to continue, look forward, this is just beginning and it’s not an apology. Surely we will find the ideal point that will take us to the great goal that is the title”.

Candelo added that they lacked efficiency and effectiveness in the first part to have faced the complementary one with greater calm.

“We made significant wear and tear in the first half in which we created many scoring options and that deprived us of expanding the scoreboard and would have given us more peace of mind to face the second half”.

Against Junior would be Andrés Andrade, and the medical staff is awaiting the evolution of Sebastián Gómez who was injured against Cortuluá
