One of the highlights of the week in San Cayetano is the championship won by Independiente in the “Brian Cortadi” Tournament, of the Necochea Soccer League. He achieved a clear victory at home by 4 to 1 against Jorge Newbery de Lobería and in this way, he reached the title for the fourth consecutive time.

The first leg had been won by Independiente 1-0, for which they arrived with an advantage in the result and also with the additional chance that playing at home provides.

The team from San Cayetano proved to be superior, with greater pressure on the rival field since the match began and the decision to take center stage. This was highlighted by the digital site Caynet, with a chronicle by Gabriel Piacquadío.

He had several arrivals at the rival goal, until he managed to make the difference in the 34th minute, when Camino, Jorge Newbwery’s goalkeeper, missed a ball that was going into his hands, and ended up at the bottom of the goal. The ball came from a free kick by Azurmendi, who made it 1-0.

Then Moreno twice, with assists from Alvarado, scored the second and third, in a moment of disorientation for the visiting team. At the end of the first half, Jorge Newbery had the opportunity to discount through a penalty kick executed by Gonzalo Maldonado, but goalkeeper Juan Francisco Parente stopped him in two periods.

Five minutes into the second half, a shot by Mateo Bergottini was half contained by Parente and ended up going into the goal, making the score 3-1.

The last goal for the locals came through a header by Uribe, to close an afternoon that once again placed the team from San Cayetano at the top of the Necochea League.

The owner of the tournament. Everything is joy in Independiente de San Cayetano (Gabriel Piacquadio – Caynet)

The next challenge is the semifinal against Liniers de Bahía Blanca for the Federal Amateur Regional Tournament. A real merit to have reached this instance, against a rival of a very good level.
