The course of the match Inter Milan Vs Venice

Looking for a quick goal, Inter played aggressively since the early minutes and did not give Venezia the opportunity to develop the game. However, Inter even had difficulty creating opportunities in front of Venice’s goal.

Instead, the visitors created the first opportunity in the 14th minute through David Okereke and forced Samir Handanovic to fend off it.

Venezia then took the lead in the 19th minute when Ethan Ampadu’s cross from the right found Thomas Henry free-standing, between the two Inter defenders. Henry headed the ball and had Handanovic parried before it became a goal.

That goal made Inter more eager to attack Venice, but the opportunities they got failed to convert into goals. Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez’s poor finishing up front made goals difficult to come by.

Luca Lezzerini under Venezia’s rule also played well to reduce Inter’s attack. The goal that Inter had been waiting for came in the 40th minute thanks to an attack on the left side of the Venezia defense.

Starting with Matteo Darmian’s crossing which was greeted by Ivan Perisic’s volley, the ball was pushed over by Lezzerini. However, the rebound was quickly struck by Barella into a goal.

The 1-1 score lasted until halftime. Inter were still trying to find a goal after the second half started and got a chance in the 57th minute.

Hakan Calhanoglu released a free kick which was headed by Stefan de Vrij and could be blocked by Lezzerini. Dzeko reached the vomit ball but because of Lezzerini’s interference, his shot flew.

Lezzerini again thwarted Inter’s chances, this time in the 61st minute through Darmian’s shot from close range which was brushed aside. After that Inter again struggled to create a shooting space in the Venezia defense.

Some of the opportunities obtained are always raw before reaching the goal. Venice was really forced to defend by Inter throughout the second half and only occasionally launched a counter-attack.

Dzeko! Inter’s relentless attacks finally paid off in the 89th minute, when Dzeko headed Denzel Dumfries’ cross from the right and Lezzerini couldn’t keep the ball out.
