It is interesting to see whether Yeosu, Jeollanam-do will re-establish the project cost of the Gyeonggido Marine Tourism Complex entry road, which was completely cut by the city council, and pass it.
According to the city of Yeosu on the 31st, the city set a charge of 7.18 billion won for the construction of the Gyeonggido marine tourism complex access road in the second supplementary budget for 2022.
The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority will spend 119.5 billion won to build the 1.35km-long land bridge by 2024.
Of the 119.5 billion won in the project cost, the state will pay 47.8 billion won, or 40%, and Mirae Asset, which is in charge of development in Jeollanam-do, Yeosu, and Gyeonggi-do, will each pay 23.9 billion won, or 20%.
Of the 23.9 billion won that the city has to pay, the city of Yeosu included 7.3 billion won for next year’s budget in the 2022 main budget, but the city council cut it entirely.
The city council cut the budget for opening an access road, urging Mirae Asset to withdraw the construction of a living accommodation facility (residence), which is being promoted by Mirae Asset, which is developing the Gyeonggi marine tourism complex.
Yeosu Mayor Kwon O-bong said to the city council, “The Gyeongdo access road is a long-awaited project of our city, designated as a Yeosu City Urban Planning Road in 1986 regardless of the development of Gyeongdo. It’s irresponsible.”
The Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly showed contrast by passing the original bill of the executive department on the condition that it renegotiated with Mirae Asset for 6.5 billion won of the project cost of the access road to the Yeosu Gyeongdo Marine Tourism Complex.
The city of Yeosu prepared an additional budget of 1.633 trillion won, including 5.5 billion won for the construction of the Ungcheon-Soho road, 11.9 billion won for the new public parking lot, and 2.8 billion won for the Jinnam badminton stadium.
The budget bill is expected to go through deliberation and resolution at the 217th Yeosu City Council extraordinary meeting to be held for 12 days from the 4th of next month.
The plenary session will be held on February 15, the last day of the extraordinary session.
