JB Hansen leads the Dubai Desert Classic, Romain Langasque 27th

Joachim B Hansen is in good shape. Or rather in great shape for a few tournaments. Winner of the Aviv Championship in Dubai last November and author of a Top 10 in the final of the DP world Tour the following week, the Dane continues his momentum. Here he is again in command of a European Tour event after his 65 (-7) during the first round of the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic.

No bogey to deplore for Hansen who started his game with four birdies in a row. He is one step ahead of Justin Harding. The South African was also stopped at night when he was going to play the 18th of the Majilis course at the Emirates Golf Club.

6

Only six players failed to complete their first round due to darkness.

Just behind them, a sextet points at 5 under par including Sergio Garcia, Pablo Larrazábal or Tommy Fleetwood.

World No. 2 Collin Morikawa is just three points off the lead in ninth place alongside Viktor Hovland and four other players. Rory McIlroy plays just under par (71, -1, 46th).

Combative Langasque

On the French side, this first round saw only two of its representatives beat the course. Romain Langasque is the best of them. His 70 of the day places him in 27th provisional place.

« I’m pretty happy with this card especially since I didn’t drive very well, he explained to us. I only took 4 or 5 fairways so I had to play a lot of shots from the rough. They’re not ultra-nasty, but they’re just bad enough to make attacking greens difficult. Especially since the greens are quite firm. I fought well and playing under par on this course with this preparation is always very good. »

Antoine Rozner also played under par (71, -1) despite a return (he started from 10) marred by two bogeys. The Parisian is 46th.

Julien Guerrier and Victor Perez post cards of 73 (+1, 71st), Alexander Levy plays 74 (+2, 88th), Victor Dubuisson rarely at ease on the Emirates Golf Club brings up the rear with a 79 (+7 ) which relegates him to 127th place.
