The Beijing Winter Olympics is about to open. In this highly anticipated ice and snow sports event, sled athlete Wang Peixuan from Jinghe New Town, Xixian New District has qualified for the women’s singles sleigh event, and will represent the Chinese team with all-out efforts to attack the Winter Olympics medals.

The “post-00s” Wang Peixuan was born in the north group of Ruining Village, Yongle Town, Jinghe New City. He showed extraordinary athletic talent since he was a child. At the age of 15, he was selected by the provincial sports school to enter China’s first women’s sledding country. The training team has gradually grown into the main force of the national women’s sled team.

“Her mother was a sports lover in high school. Her daughter finally took the road of being an athlete, and she has to credit her mother.” Recently, Wang Peixuan’s father Wang Long told reporters that his wife Huang Yan is a sports enthusiast, especially volleyball , badminton and table tennis. When Wang Peixuan was young, Huang Yan often took her to participate in sports together, and she often watched sports programs on TV at home. Under the influence of her ears and eyes, Wang Peixuan’s sports interest was gradually nurtured and inspired.

Speaking of his daughter’s sports history, Wang Long is very familiar. Probably when Wang Peixuan was in the fifth grade of elementary school, he once participated in a long-distance running competition. Since then, her daughter began to systematically receive high-intensity professional training in her spare time, and was selected to learn javelin throwing at the provincial sports school when she was in the second year of junior high school. In July 2015, after Beijing’s successful bid to host the Winter Olympics, ice and snow events emerged in China. Shaanxi Province also selected a group of winter athletes, including Wang Peixuan, who was successfully selected for the national team that year.

“This road is monotonous and boring. It’s even harder when you get to the national team. You have to train all year round, and you have to fly to different countries to participate in the points competition. Last year in Germany, I was injured by a bone fracture in the training competition. I just clenched my teeth for points. “Wang Long said that his daughter’s last family vacation was in February last year, and the training was heavy, and she only stayed at home for 3 days before returning to the team for training. “After so many years away, it would be a lie to say that I don’t feel distressed, but thinking that my daughter is winning glory for the country, I think it’s all worth it.”

In recent years, Wang Peixuan has successively won the women’s singles champion of the 2017 National Championships, the women’s singles runner-up and team third place of the 2019 National Championships, the women’s singles champion and team champion of the 14th National Winter Games, and the women’s singles champion of the 2021 National Luge Championship. First runner-up and team runner-up, he has represented China in international sledding events such as the World Youth Championship and the Youth World Cup. According to the points ranking of the International Snowmobile Federation, Wang Peixuan currently ranks 38th in the women’s single bobsleigh event.

On January 10 this year, the sledding competition of the Beijing Winter Olympics ended, and the Chinese sleigh team won 1 seat in each of the 4 events of men’s singles, women’s singles, doubles and team relay. Wang Peixuan is the winner of the women’s singles bobsleigh event. She will represent the Chinese team on the stage of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and compete with international players.

It is understood that in the luge sports Wang Peixuan participated in, he had to lie on his back on the sled with his feet in front, and use his body to swing to control the sled. A sport that counts performance in thousandths of a second has become one of the most exciting events at the Winter Olympics.
