Job Castillo shines at home and wins the national

After three days of a hard-fought battle and after coming back from the Grand Final game, Job Castillo from Jalisco started 2022 on the right foot by conquering the First Force National Badminton Tournament.

Castillo passed the first rounds and qualified for the Grand Final of the tournament where he faced New Leon’s Ramón Garrido in a true spectacle.

The duel lasted more than an hour. The first set had been for the Nuevo León native with partials of 23-21, but the man from Guadalajara did not throw in the towel and came from behind to win the championship by winning the following two sets 21-13 and 22-20.

The tournament was played from the facilities of the Sports Center Code II in Guadalajara and this result adds to Castillo’s aspirations to reach the National Team, since the Mexican Badminton Federation will summon 12 players (six women and six men) to compete in the Pan American Team Championship next February.

“We are going to be a little over a month in preparation to come strong to that event. I am going to train in Mexico City under the program of coaches Salvador Sánchez and Érick Betancourt. I will be waiting for it to be defined if there will be any concentration prior to the event and to arrive well coupled and thus be able to do a good job”, declared the man from Guadalajara for CODE Jalisco after his victory.
