The Latvian quartet was the best in the start, but in the first race it took the second place seven seconds behind the German pilot Maximilian Ilmans. In the second race, the Latvians were the fastest in all sections of the track and also at the finish, recovering nine hundredths of a second, beating Ilman by just 0.02 seconds.
The German crew, piloted by Jonas Jannušs, also took the third place – they lost 0.12 seconds to the Latvians.
Eight crews took part in the competition.
On Saturday, Kaufmanis and Kleinbergs won fifth place in the doubles competition, but debutant Jēkabs Kalenda finished 11th with pusher Regnārs Kirejevs.
