Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with a sprained anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, his team announced Sunday.

The team maintains some optimism that the player will return to the courts as soon as possible after undergoing the corresponding rehabilitation for 4 to 6 weeks.

Durant, was injured in his team’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in a fortuitous crash, the player took the worst part when Bruce Brown fell on him after colliding with Herb Jones.

Brooklyn’s leading scorer was unable to continue in action despite trying, but made the decision to stop playing to be checked out by his team’s medical team.

The injury comes at the worst moment of the season, since the lanky scorer has been having one of the best offensive seasons of his career, numbers that have him fighting for the MVP award.
