Granit Xhaka sees the red card early on, but Liverpool can’t get past a draw. It is noticeable that Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah are absent because of the Africa Cup.

TLiverpool FC with coach Jürgen Klopp didn’t get past a 0-0 win against Arsenal in the semi-final first leg of the English Football League Cup. The decision will now be made in the second leg on January 20, who will face Chelsea in the final. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s team won 2-0 and 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur.

The first leg between Arsenal and Liverpool was originally scheduled for January 6 in London. Due to numerous positive corona tests on Klopp’s team, the game was postponed, which caused trouble. Because later the Liverpool coach reported that almost all positive test results turned out to be false and that the isolated players were then tested negative.

At Anfield Road, Liverpool were clearly the better team, especially since the former Gladbach Granit Xhaka had already seen the red card in the 24th minute due to an emergency brake. The hosts were unable to get the ball into the goal. The absence of the two star strikers Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah who played in the Africa Cup made itself felt.
