Kobayashi wins by just 11 centimeters in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Ryoyu Kobayashi has won the traditional New Year’s jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Japanese ski jumper scored just a little better than Markus Eisenbichler from Germany with 0.2 point difference (only 11 centimeters) and is on course for his second title in the Four Hills Tour.

Kobayashi, 25, flew to 143 meters in his first attempt, then narrowly held the lead in the second round after a jump of 135.5 meters. Eisenbichler recorded jumps of 141 and 143.5 meters. In the end 0.2 point made the difference. Lovro Kos from Slovenia was third (135.5 and 138 meters).

Kobayashi, who won the first competition in Oberstdorf on Wednesday, won the tour three years ago and then triumphed as the third jumper ever to win on all four ramps. He could become the first ski jumper in history to win the Vierschansentournee twice with four wins.
