The Latvian men’s floorball team will be in the same subgroup with Sweden, Switzerland and Thailand at the 11th World Games in Birmingham, USA in the summer, reports the International Floorball Federation (IFF).

In addition to the hostess, the five strongest teams in the 2021 World Cup in Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Latvia, the strongest national team in the American zone, Canada, and Thailand, which won in the Asia-Oceania zone, will also take part in the World Games.
Sweden, Switzerland, Latvia and Thailand will compete in subgroup A, while Finland, the Czech Republic, the United States and Canada will compete in subgroup B.
The floorball tournament will take place from July 8 to 12. There will be sub-group games in the first three days, after which the semi-finals and place fights will take place.
There will be no more than 14 players in the teams and one match will be 45 minutes long or three periods of 15 minutes each. Only in the playoffs, if necessary, extra time and a series of post-match throws will be played.
The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama are scheduled for July 7-17. In addition to the floorball team from Latvia, Sandra Grosberga, an orienteer, and Roberts Liņavskis, a wakeboarder, have also qualified for them.
The first World Games took place in the United States in 1981 as an international sporting event not represented at the Olympics. The World Games are held every four years and are organized and run by the International World Games Association.
