On Sunday, Latvian sled driver Elīna Ieva Vītola took the 13th place in the World Cup stage on the Oberhof track in Germany, Elīza Tīruma took the 14th position, and Sigita Bērziņa the 19th place.

The victory was won by the Austrian Madeleine Egle, finishing in the sum of two races in a minute and 24,074 seconds. German athlete Jūlija Taubica took second place, losing 0.02 seconds to the winner, while third place went to Anna Bereitere from Germany, 0.265 seconds behind Austria.
Egle corrected the start time in the first race, but Bereitere improved the start time again in the second race. Egle was also the leader after the first race, finishing in 41,994 seconds.
Bērziņa managed a good first race, but did not manage to pick up enough speed, so after the first race she took the 14th place, 0.449 seconds behind the best result.
Vītola managed a quick start, but several mistakes along the entire track did not allow him to take a higher place than the 19th after the first race, lagging behind 0.538 seconds from the fastest finish time.
On the other hand, Tīruma, although showing the ninth fastest start time, took only the 17th place after the first race, losing 0.502 seconds.
Egle, who was also the leader after the first race, corrected the start time in the first race, finishing in 41,994 seconds. Taubica took the second place, 0.116 seconds behind Egle, but the top three was closed by another German athlete Natalia Gaizenberger, whose leader conceded 0.194 seconds.
In the second race Vītola did not make any mistakes, which allowed to improve the finish time by almost 0.3 seconds, but in the sum of two races she was 0.646 seconds behind the winner.
Tīruma also managed to improve her result in the second race, but after a mistake in the middle of the track, she was one place lower than Vītola, conceding 0.658 seconds in the sum of two races.
Meanwhile, Bērziņš did not have a successful second trip, but after a mistake he managed to escape the fall, as a result of which she was 1.051 seconds behind.
Last season, Vīrola was sixth in the overall standings, but Vītola was 22nd. Vītola was happy with the victory in the last competition of the season in St. Moritz.
On Sunday at 14.45 there will be a competition in the team relay, the composition of which will be known before the trip.
It has already been reported that on Saturday on the same track in the solo competition Kristers Aparjods took the ninth place, Gints Bērziņš took the 14th place, but Artūrs Dārznieks – the 17th place. In the doubles competition Juris and Andris Šici took the fifth place, but Mārtiņš Bots / Roberts Plūme took the 13th place.
143 athletes from 25 countries have entered the eighth stage of the World Cup.
The final of the World Cup and the European Championships will take place on January 22/23 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The culmination of the season will be from February 4 to 10, when the Olympic medals will be fought on the Yangtze River in Beijing.
