The young people of the Lisieux judo club (Calvados) shone during the departmental championships in Troarn (Calvados), Sunday January 9, 2022.
Among the cadets, Léonie Caillebotte, resident of the hope center of Rouen (Seine-Maritime), is champion in -57 kg, her third consecutive title: “It’s a great satisfaction and a confirmation, greets Stéphane Brunet, president of the Shin Gi Taï, the Lexovian club. She is also at the head of the regional circuit.
On the boys’ side, Florian Brunet finished second in -55 kg, behind his teammate from the hope pole of Caen. He is fourth in the regional ranking: “You should know that both are only first year cadets and that they fight with second and third year cadets”, underlines the president.
Head to the regional championships
For his return to competition after more than a year of absence, Gauthier Gesquiere went to win the title of champion of Calvados under 60 kg. In the same category, Firmin Lozier climbs on the box, in third place: “He is gradually finding sensations for this second part of the season”.
The young people are trained by Ugo Germain, who will accompany them to the regional championships on March 13 in Montivilliers (Seine-Maritime), “qualifying event for the French first division championships at the national judo institute in Paris on April 2 and 3 “.
In minimal, Célestin Caillebotte, who rode category -60 kg, became vice-departmental champion.
Stéphane Brunet and the club’s volunteers are happy: “After several interruptions over the past two years, Shin Gi Taï Lisieux is very satisfied with the start of the year and hopes for some nice surprises before the end of the season”.
