KOMPAS.com – Liverpool star Mohamed Salah with the Egyptian national team managed to secure a place in the round of 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt is certain to qualify for the last 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after winning in the last match of Group D against Sudan.
The Egypt vs Sudan match took place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde, Cameroon, on Thursday (20/1/2022) early morning WIB.
Egypt won the match 1-0 thanks to Mohamed Abdelmonem’s only goal in the 35th minute.

The victory over Sudan puts Egypt in second place in the African Cup of Nations Group F with a collection of six points from three matches.
Egypt has six points after picking up two wins over Sudan and Guinea-Bissau (1-0).
In the group phase series, Mohamed Salah et al only picked up one defeat, namely when they met Nigeria (0-1).
Egypt then qualified for the last 16 of the African Cup of Nations as runner-up Group D. They are a companion to Nigeria who finished in first place thanks to a perfect achievement, nine points from three matches.

Nigeria is the only team that is able to carve out a perfect score in the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Apart from Egypt and Nigeria, there are eight other teams that have also secured a place in the last 16.
Besides Egypt, the teams that have already qualified as runner-up the groups are Burkina Faso (Group A), Guinea (Group B), and Gabon (Group C).
Furthermore, the teams that have qualified as group winners, apart from Nigeria, are Cameroon (Group A), Senegal (Group B), and Morocco (Group C).

The other two teams, namely Cape Verde (Group A) and Malawi (Group B), are certain to qualify for the last 16 through the best third-place route.
Now, there are only six tickets that can still be contested to advance to the last 16 of the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
The winner of the remaining tickets will be determined on matchday The last group E and F are scheduled to take place on Thursday (20/1/2022) night until Friday (21/1/2022) early morning WIB.
A number of teams, including defending champions Algeria, will struggle to secure any of the remaining tickets.
