Lonzo Ball will miss the Chicago Bulls for a long time due to injury

The Chicago Bulls will be without Lonzo Ball for up to two months. The point guard will have a meniscus surgery in the coming days.

The team announced this on Thursday. Ball will be out for between six and eight weeks. Ball had been having problems with his knee for weeks, conservative treatment was unsuccessful, which is why Ball decided to have an operation in consultation with various doctors.

The point guard has been missing in the past three games of the Bulls. It’s not the first time Ball has had meniscus problems. During his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, the 24-year-old had to go under the knife in the same knee in the summer of 2018.

Rookie Ayo Dosunmu started in Ball’s place and did well. In addition, Alex Caruso also returned for the home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, so that the personnel situation at the leader of the Eastern Conference eased somewhat.

In addition to Ball, Zach LaVine (knee), Javonte Green (groin), Derrick Jones Jr. (knee) and Patrick Williams are also absent, although the latter will be out for several months with a wrist injury. Ball was an important factor in the Bulls’ surprising success in the first few months of the season. In 35 games, the playmaker averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
