Manager Astronauts is not confident after victory against Puerto Rico

The leader of the Astronauts of the Saints of Panama, Raúl Domínguez, affirmed that the team has to stay focused after its important victory against Puerto Rico this Friday in the opening game of the Caribbean Series.

“It was a great victory, but we have to continue with our feet on the ground and prepare for tomorrow’s game against Colombia,” said the leader at a press conference, after the culmination of the match held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium in Santo Domingo, where the tournament takes place until next February 3.

Domínguez explained that the basis of his game is to bet on pitching and defending, a strategy that led him to victory in the Panamanian championship.

“We try to get the best we have. We competed, the pitching endured, but we competed and got the victory against Puerto Rico,” he said about how they faced this match, in which Panama won 3-2 against Puerto Rico.

The Panamanian foreman said that he is aware of the great quality of baseball that is played in the Caribbean Series and understands that his team has what it takes to go out and compete, in addition to highlighting that the combination that exists between players and veterans is one of the lights they have.

“Having veteran players like Christian Bethancourt and Olmo Rosario is a combination that can give us victory,” Domínguez commented on these two experienced players, who responded in Friday’s game, Rosario with a home run and Bethancourt with an RBI single.

Regarding Bethancourt, who plays primarily at catcher, he said he will be in the daily lineup, even if he has to use him at first base or in the outfield.

He ended by highlighting the confidence he has in each of his players to go out and give their best on the pitch.
