Manuel Neuer apparently about to extend his contract

The national keeper’s contract with the German record champions does not expire until 2023. Manuel Neuer has apparently decided ahead of time what his future should look like.

According to a media report, world-class goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is on the verge of an early contract extension with record-breaking German champions FC Bayern. As the “Sportbuzzer” writes on Thursday, the captain’s new contract should then be valid until June 2025, and an announcement could be made “promptly”. The current contract of the 35-year-old keeper expires in mid-2023.

Neuer moved to Munich from FC Schalke 04 in 2011 and won the championship nine times and the Champions League twice with the team.

Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeneß commented on the three leading figures Neuer, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller in a dpa interview at the beginning of January. “At the moment I can’t imagine the years 2024 and 2025 without this trio. I’m no longer in the driver’s seat at FC Bayern,” said the 70-year-old. However, he thinks that the club will try to extend the three players.
