Marquez Appears in Sepang and Mandalika MotoGP Pre-Season Tests

Jakarta

Marc Marquez will return to the race track. Honda Repsol announced that Marquez will take part in the 2022 MotoGP pre-season tests at Sepang and Mandalika.

At first, it was doubtful that the eight-time world champion would be able to participate in the MotoGP pre-season test. Marquez experienced visual impairment (diplopia) due to a motorcycle accident last October.

However, apparently Marquez’s condition is not as bad as expected. Since December 2021, Marquez’s visual condition has gradually improved and has been practicing since two weeks ago.

Marquez said he was optimistic that he could appear in the winter test in Sepang after practicing in Portimao. Honda revealed that Marquez’s condition was fit to take part in the series of preparations ahead of the 2022 MotoGP, which was held at Sepang and Mandalika in February.

“Throughout the winter Marquez continued to undergo medical examinations and consultations to monitor his diplopia,” Honda said in a statement Crash. “Recently his improvement in his condition has made his medical team consider his recovery sufficient to train on two wheels. The #93 racer returned to the MotoGP track before testing the Honda RC213V-S in Portimao and Honda CBR600RR in Aragon.”

“On Monday, January 24, Marquez underwent another medical examination which again confirmed that his treatment was a complete success and the eighth world champion is in a condition that allows him to ride a MotoGP bike.”

“For that it was decided that Marquez will start the 2022 season at the first official MotoGP test at Sepang before heading to Mandalika, Indonesia the following week. This will be Marquez’s first on a MotoGP bike since winning the Emilia Romagna 2021 race in front of Pol Espargaro.”

“The Repsol Honda Team will be looking at the first test of the new season with full strength alongside Marquez and Pol Espargaro, who are entering their second season with the team.”
