The DRC will participate in the 9th Francophone Games scheduled for Kinshasa in August of the current year and in the Pan-African Youth Games in Cairo, Egypt. Already, the selections of the various sports disciplines concerned are hard at work preparing for these two meetings. The Congolese National Judo Federation (FENACOJU) also got involved by entrusting the work to Me Mbala, national coach, for the supervision of the selected judokas (girls and boys) to enable them to improve their form. However, Me Mbala complains of missing everything, even the bare minimum. He considers that “Judo is a difficult sport. The country needs results, it is high time to provide us with everything we need to enable us to achieve our goal. We are practically abandoned. There is even the athlete Cédric Kalonga, residing in Belgium who arrived by his means to defend the national colors. And then, we are not motivated at all. Elsewhere, coaches are paid handsomely for less than what we do. That the government takes charge of us, that it does not take care of football as a priority, judo is capable of bringing back convincing results to the country“, did he declare.
The other stumbling block is the notable absence of the national technical director (DTN), Me Pija Bondele, from the training sessions given by Me Mbala. Although present in Kinshasa, the DTN prefers to follow these activities from afar. It is said that the national coach (Me Mbala) would bear the brunt of the dysfunction observed at the level of the FENACOJU, which would have a period of 15 days to organize the elections for this federation which would tend towards two-headedness. Otherwise, Congolese judo would be suspended from all competitions, both national and international.
