Mexico took its first victory by whitewashing Colombia

This meeting was marked by a pitching duel from start to finish.

The only run of the game came from the bat of Cuban Félix Pérez who hit a solo home run in the second inning to open the scoring for the Mexicans.

During this matchup they only allowed 9 hits between the two ninths, leaving the pitchers intractable.

Wilmer Ríos (1-0) took the honors for Mexico after pitching six and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and prescribed five batters for the Colombian team. Roberto Osuna saved after pitching the ninth inning without incident.
