Michel Wuyts (65), the VRT face for cycling, will remain active even after his retirement. He will start working at HLN.be, VTM and VTM Nieuws from tomorrow. DPG Media announced this in a press release.
‘I had the feeling that I hadn’t been told for a long time’, responds Michel Wuyts. ‘I made no secret of the fact that I was sorry that my retirement would be an end point. That is not the case now. I can already feel the new cycling season itch, and I am ready to fly into it again – with the experience I have. I had always hoped to be able to use that experience even longer. That’s possible now, and I’m happy about that.’
‘Wuyts will traditionally comment on some absolute cycling monuments’, the press release states. He will kick off the cycling season on VTM with Milan-San Remo.
Michel Wuyts will also be present in the newspaper and online. He already wrote a weekly column The last news. According to the newspaper, at least monthly, there is now a bigger cycling story on top of that.
‘We understand that, although we would have loved to end the current cyclo-cross season together in beauty. It also gave us the opportunity to say goodbye to Michel in the same beauty’, the VRT responds to the news.
