Sportsman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year: these are the four sections chosen by Molise Sport, the talk conducted by Franco Presutti, for the assignment of the 2021 awards to Molise sport. Last night, on Teleregione, a special was broadcast with the winners in their respective categories.
President Toma delivered plaque and parchment, as a 2021 team, to Molisana Magnolia Basket. To receive them, the president of the company, Antonella Palmieri. This is the motivation read by the governor: “For giving prestige to Molise basketball, nationally and internationally, obtaining prestigious results in the A1 women’s championship and participating in the EuroCup“
It was therefore underlined how the Magnolia Basket Campobasso project, born in spring 2017, has brought Molise to the national and international limelight of women’s basketball.
The three seasons in A2 were characterized by increasingly relevant results: the playoff quarterfinals in the first season; thirteen consecutive successes, the title of winter champion, the qualification to the Final Eight of the Italian Cup and the playoff semifinals in the second season; the summit in the third, interrupted prematurely by Covid.
Then came the A1 series with the ninth place in the first season and the participation, in the current one, in the playoffs for the qualification for the regular season of EuroCup and the early qualification for the Final Eight of the Italian Cup.
In addition to the first team, much attention is paid to the youth sector, a veritable hotbed of talents, also from neighboring regions, created with the aim of raising the general level of women’s basketball.
