NAC Breda responds to Haye’s dissatisfaction: “Don’t ask for an absurd amount”

NAC Breda does not ask ‘really an absurd amount’ for Thom Haye, emphasizes director Mattijs Manders. SC Heerenveen and NAC are in full negotiation about Haye, but the Keuken Kampioen Division club is keeping its feet up for the time being. Manders is willing to cooperate, provided Heerenveen offers the right amount. Haye is now more than fed up and wants to leave.

If it is up to technical manager Ferry de Haan van Heerenveen, Haye would rather come to Heerenveen today than tomorrow. At the beginning of this week it became clear that the club had made a first offer for the midfielder. That was rejected, after which a second offer was made almost immediately afterwards. The story goes that NAC also refused a third offer from Heerenveen, but Manders denies this. “No, no third offer has been made,” he tells FootballFirst.

“We received an offer by email and rejected it, and then Heerenveen made a slightly higher offer, after which we announced the asking price,” says Manders. “We really grant Thom a nice step to the Eredivisie, but also have to do with the business operations of NAC and we think that there should be a certain price in return. I won’t go into amounts, but we really don’t ask for an absurd amount. “We got Thom, he didn’t play at ADO Den Haag. We gave him the opportunity at NAC to let him be the footballer we saw in him again. He absolutely lived up to that, but we also offered him that podium.”

Haye expressed his dissatisfaction after the match against FC Volendam and criticized NAC’s behavior: he wants to go to Heerenveen. “I will not go into details, but I am a bit bothered by NAC’s behavior at the moment. I have had conversations with the trainer. He also thinks that this is the right step for me and grants it to me. And he thinks that we should get out of it. But I don’t think how NAC communicates at times, “said Haye to BN DeStem on Friday.

Manders about this: “We have been clear in what we want. I find it difficult when the player insists on a transfer and that he thinks the club should just add water to the wine, because we also have an interest.”

Both Heerenveen and NAC are secretive about the amount of the amounts. The two clubs spoke again on Saturday and NAC will respond to Heerenveen’s latest proposal on Saturday. “I am confident that we will go one step further with Heerenveen. Sometimes things also need some time. You have to remember that it is very difficult to replace a player like Thom, we don’t really want to lose him. But if a player wants to take the step, we have to look at that too. As far as we’re concerned, this book is definitely not finished yet,” says Manders.

Haye still has a contract with NAC until the summer of 2023.
