NBA: Dallas Mavericks winning streak ends abruptly”>Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has been fined $25,000 for directing obscene language at a fan, the NBA announced Thursday.
The incident took place this Monday during the celebration of the game between the Nets and Cavaliers in Cleveland. After being booed by a Cavs fan, Irving responded by using an insult and calling him “ungrateful” in reference to the title he won in 2016.
A fine of $25,000 will not mean a great loss for the player but it will pinch more to his list of losses for the season. Irving will be a long way from receiving his full $35 million salary set for this course. For each game that he does not play at home due to local regulations regarding vaccination, he will lose $380,000 or, which is the same, 1/91.6 of his total salary.
So far, the point guard has only been able to play five games. In them he averages numbers of 22.0 points and 5.4 assists in just over 34 minutes per evening.
