ÖJV course
Austria’s future U21/U23 national coach Felipe Kitadai presented himself to the local judokas for the first time at the four-day ÖJV course for the age groups U18 to U23 (15.01.-18.01.22) in St. Johann/Pongau.
The Olympic bronze medalist in London in 2012 was a long-time rival but also a friend of Lupo Paischer during his active career. In 2016, the two faced each other in the final of the World Cup in Oberwart on Austrian soil. Back then, Lupo was the winner in an exciting encounter and with this success he celebrated his last World Cup victory before the end of his successful career in the same year. In 2019, Felipe was supposed to win bronze at the World Championships in the mixed team competition. Before the two-time Pan-American champion takes up his new position in Austria, he flies back to his homeland, where he can look forward to fatherly joy.
Although the focus of this course was mainly on Randori, Salzburg’s squad athletes were able to enjoy the first technical impressions of the former Brazilian world-class judoka.
